Stachystarpheta jamaicensis is one of the best butterfly plants for your yard. One would think a nice juicy lantana or yarrow would be the perfect bloom, nope. The porterweed is member of the Verbenaceae family and may be the reason for the butterfly attraction. Treat as a tender perennial in Central Texas as it is listed as USDA zones 9-11. (No sightings of red or coral colors yet.)
