The Daily Lily

One significant sign of summer is the beginning of the daylily show.

Thousands of registered cultivars, each with their own bloom cycle. Some will open their bloom at sunrise to close at sunset, some are night blooming, some fragrant and some not. Shades of yellows, oranges, reds but the elusive true pinks, blues and purples are the dreams of all daylily hybridizers.

Today's specimen is Siloam Dream Baby is called an apricot with a purple "eye". The 4" bloom emerges from a 18" tall clump that will spread to about 24" wide.

Nice to make certain the flower matches the tag in the pot.
